The Engineered Air Theatre is located within Arts Commons, formerly known as EPCOR Centre for the Performing Arts. Arts Commons incorporates two heritage buildings; the Burns Building and the Calgary Public Building. The theatre was also the original site of the Empress Theatre of 1911.

The construction of the Engineered Air Theatre incorporated salvaged decorative elements from the Empress Theatre. It offers seating for 185 and is used for concerts, plays, galas and private events.
